Eric Harvey

I am a community ecologist with broad interests in metacommunity/metaecosystem and food web ecology. More specifically, I seek to understand the mechanisms that structure communities of interacting species and how the emerging structure influences ecosystem function. That is to say, I am interested in how community and ecosystem ecology interact. I’m also very interested in bridging ecology and conservation sciences by fostering a better communication between both fields, and by developing a research program centered on the empirical testing of ecological theory.

When I am not cosying up in front of my computer with a warm tea or coffee to crunch data or write, I enjoy canoe camping, climbing, hockey, cycling and playing with my daughter. I enjoy good food and beer tasting, but most of all I enjoy the good company that comes with it and the discussion about life, philosophy and politics.
